Both worked well on the 1D and produced excellent 16 Mpix images. However, IMHO, while using the EF-EOS R adapter on the 44 Mpix R-5 the Tamron G2 had noticeably sharper center resolution and less chromatic fringing. The 5D4 is such a nice camera. The RP is more of a entry level MILC in comparison. The R was closer in performance, but Canon has continued to improve the EOS R platform. Replacing a 5D4 with an R might be a better option (if budget is a concern) but its truly more inline with a lens mount change than a serious boost in performance. If not the answer is to go for the R6 mark Ii for the better af imo. If you really need the resolution then obviously go for the r5.
